MACOMB - Rita Rue Bryan, 82, of Macomb, Ill., passed away at 11:50 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at Parc Provence in Creve Coeur, Mo.
She was born Sept. 29, 1931, in Macomb, Ill., to Ernest "Boots" and Maxine Sullivan Runkle. She married Richard "Dick" Bryan on June 14, 1952. He preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 1986.
Surviving are one daughter; Karen Bryan of Creve Coeur, Mo.; one son, Kent (Karen) Bryan of Warrensburg, Ill.; two grandchildren, Kayla (Jeremy) Stice of Marietta, Ga., and Kyler Bryan of Herrin, Ill.; and one brother, Max Runkle of Topeka, Ill.
She worked for the Macomb Journal and Everly House and farmed with her husband for many years.
She was a member of the Jerusalem United Methodist Church, Macomb Country Club and McDonough County Farm Bureau, where she served on the Board of Directors. She was active in many farm-related and community organizations.
She was an avid golfer, tennis player and bowler.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at the Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home, where visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. Chaplain Jim Crawford will officiate. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund.
