PERU - Robert W. "Bob" Dose, 87, of Peru, formerly of Lostant, passed away Sunday morning, Nov. 25, 2012, at his home.
Funeral services will be private with burial to follow at St. John's Cemetery in Lostant. Full military rites will be conducted by the LaSalle-Oglesby Veteran's Memorial Group.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home in Lostant.
Mr. Dose was born on June 22, 1925, in Lostant to Julius and Mary (Hauger) Dose. He married Helen Forrest on Nov. 18, 1946, in Henderson, Ky.
He served in the Navy during WWII.
Bob farmed in the Lostant area for many years and was a local land developer.
He served as the mayor of Lostant for 20 years.
He is survived by one daughter, Judith Dose of Peru; two sons, Ronald (Sherry) Dose of Lostant and Jeffrey (Linda) Dose of Oglesby; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Rosemary Jensen of Lostant; and his companion of 15 years, Elaine Edler of Peru.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen on Feb. 3, 1995; one daughter in infancy, Mary Lynn Dose; and three sisters, Shirley Roberts, Helen M. Dose and Doris Wiesbrock.
