WASHINGTON - Robert C. Heinzmann, 73, of Chillicothe, Ill., and formerly of Washington, Ill., died at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, at his daughter's home in Washington.
He was born July 5, 1937, in Peoria, Ill., to Francis and Alice Roser Heinzmann.
Surviving are five children, Bob (Rosie) Heinzmann and Pat (Rich) Brown, both of Washington, Ill., Steve (Julie) Heinzmann of Moline, Ill., and Greg (Angie) Heinzmann and Teresa (Kevin) Schone, both of Washington, Ill.; his fiancee, Esther Merdian of Chillicothe; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.
Bob worked as a boilermaker at Hiram Walker until his retirement in 1981.
He later worked at Multi-Ad and Peoria Tent & Awning.
He was a master of many hobbies, including gardening, carpentry, auto mechanics and fishing, and was known as an all-around craftsman.
Bob was of the Catholic faith.
Private family graveside services will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Metamora. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
Memorials may be made to OSF Hospice.
