Roger Fleisher Obituary

PEORIA - Roger Gene Fleisher, 71, of Peoria, Ill., passed away at 4:10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at Heartland Manor Care in Peoria.

He was born April 2, 1942, in Canton, Ill., to Gilbert Gene and Dorothy (Burroughs) Fleisher.

His mother preceded him in death.

Surviving are his father and stepmother, Gilbert and Audrey Fleisher of Peoria; brother, Thomas (Sandy) Fleisher of Peoria; sister, Saundra Golembeck of Decatur; friends, Dan and Pam Heffern, formerly of Farmington, and Susan Laughlin of Bartonville; and several nieces and nephews.

Roger graduated from Farmington High School in 1960 and continued his education at Bradley University, receiving his master's degree in education.

He started his teaching career at Academy of Our Lady and then Pekin High School, where he was dean of students, retiring in 2002.

Roger was a member of Dew Dusters League, Peoria ELKS Lodge 20, Illinois Sheriffs Association, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 41, Independent Sports Club of Central Illinois, Sons of the American Legion Bartonville Post 0979, Farmington Moose Lodge 1571 and Friends of Fatherless Boys, where he served as secretary.

Roger loved to golf.

Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be a graveside service on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 1 p.m. at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Farmington, Ill.
