TREMONT - Ruth E. Boston, 80, of Tremont, formerly of Delavan, passed away at 6:24 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013, at Hopedale Nursing Home.
She was born Sept. 18, 1933, in Dufer, Ore., to the Rev. Hugh and Cecil Dean Archibald. She married Melvin H. Boston on Dec. 19, 1952, in Nokomis, Ill. He survives.
Also surviving are four sons, David Boston, Robert (Sandra) Boston, and Jonathon (Michelle) Boston, all of Tremont, and Timothy (Dawn) Boston of Washington; 10 grandchildren, Bryan (Breanna), Cynthia (Justin), Jameson (Christine), Rachel (Jason), Russell, Nathan (Krista), Andrew, Leslie, Joshua, and Jessica; three great-grandchildren, Blaine, Cameron, and Owen; and one sister, Margaret Farmer of Oklahoma City, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Ruth was a homemaker. She was a member of Tremont Baptist Church and a former member of Delavan Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, involved with the Child Evangelism Fellowship and the Awana Club. She was also a member of Delavan Garden Club and Home Extension.
Ruth enjoyed gardening, quilting, and working with children.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at Tremont Baptist Church. Pastor Noah Lee and Rev. Henry Miller will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Davis Mortuary in Tremont. Burial will be in Prairie Rest Cemetery in Delavan. Memorials may be made to her church.
