PEORIA - Samuel "Sam" Felder, 33, of Menlo Park, Calif., formerly of Peoria, died on Friday, April 11, 2014, at Stanford Medical Center in Palo Alto, Calif.
He is survived by his wife, Julie (Mierwa), and daughter, Sylvia of Menlo Park, Calif.; parents, Joseph and Merle Felder of Peoria; and his brother, Aaron, and Aaron's wife, Tempest Henning, and their children, Adalynne and Rebekah, of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Sam grew up in Peoria and graduated from Peoria Central High School. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Bradley University, where he was an active LGBTQ and reproductive justice advocate, in May of 2003.
Sam was employed at Facebook in Menlo Park, Calif., and previously was employed with Google in New York City.
He was an avid bicyclist who deeply enjoyed being outdoors with his wife and daughter.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 25, at 2 p.m. at Congregation Anshai Emeth, 5614 N. University, Peoria, Ill.
