WASHINGTON - Shirley J. Ballard, 80, of Washington passed away Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at 5:55 a.m. at Hallmark House in Pekin.
She was born Sept. 12, 1932, in Peoria to William and Edna (Umdenstock) Taylor. She married Jimmie Ballard in 1962 in Peoria. He passed away Oct. 10, 2005, in East Peoria.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Michael Armstrong.
Survivors include two daughters, Peggy (Denny) Tresenriter of Groveland and Sandra Taylor of Menomonee Falls, Wis.; two sons, David (Sonjia) Armstrong of Washington and Gerald (Cheryl) Armstrong of Wilmington, Ill.; three grandchildren, Jacob (Kori) Tresenriter of Morton, Kelsie and Natalie Tripp, both of Menomonee Falls, Wis.; and two great-grandsons, Aaron and Matthew Tresenriter of Morton.
Shirley was a beautician and instructor, and she worked for Caterpillar and the railroad.
Shirley was known as "The Flower Lady" and had a passion for creating arrangements and teaching classes.
She loved to talk to her family on the phone, go to movies, and go out to eat. Shirley loved and was loved by her family.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Davison-Fulton Woolsey Funeral Home in Pekin. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.
