MONMOUTH - Shirley L. Brown, 84, of Monmouth, Ill., passed away Friday, July 5, 2013, 1:45 a.m. at Roseville Rehab and Health Care Center in Roseville, Ill.
She was born June 28, 1929, in Denmark, Iowa, the daughter of Graydon and Marjorie Gross Siegrist. She married George Brown on Aug. 27, 1950, at the parsonage of the Oak Street Baptist Church in Burlington, Iowa. He survives.
She is survived by her husband, George of Monmouth, Ill.; three children, Linda (Gary) Johnson of German Valley, Ill.; Carol Totten of Galesburg, Ill., and Cindy (George) Mohr of Alexis, Ill.; six grandchildren, Todd Johnson, Morgan Johnson, Zachary (Kimmie) Totten, Erin Totten, Bryan Mohr and Brad Mohr; one great-grandson, Cameron Totten; one sister, Laveta Pfeiff of Burlington, Iowa; one sister-in-law, Beverly Siegriest of Gautier, Miss.; and one brother-in-law, Tom Barry of El Granada, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and two brothers.
She worked at Form-Fit in Monmouth, Ill., the Iowa Ordinance Plant in Middletown, Iowa, and was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Larchland Ladies Aid Society and a member of Lake Warren. She was a former member of the First United Methodist Church of Burlington, Iowa.
She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, cooking and baking.
She was a recipient of a cornea transplant.
Graveside service will be Monday, July 8, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Lenox Union Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Corman Memorial Home in Roseville, Ill.
