Sue Hunt
PEORIA ~ Sue Ann Hunt, 71, of Metamora, formerly of Peoria, passed away at 1:25 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She is now at home with Jesus in Heaven.
Born Oct. 4, 1946 in St. Paul, Minn. to James Wesley and Thelma A. (Zimmerman) Jennings, she married Michael R. Hunt on Oct. 26, 1968 in Chillicothe. He died Mar. 5, 2002. She also was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Eileen D. Brandenburg.
Surviving are two sons, Pastor Marty Lee (Kathy) Hunt of Edelstein and Daniel Scott (Ashley) Hunt of Germantown Hills; seven grandchildren, Tyus Anthony Hunt, Wesley James Hunt, Grant Michael Hunt, Lane Michael Hunt, Joshua Daniel Hunt, James Kendall Hunt and Ella Katherine Hunt; two brothers, James W. (Karen) Jennings, Jr. of Pekin and William F. (Sue) Jennings of Avon Park, Fla. and several nieces and nephews.
Sue worked for Chris Hoerr in East Peoria for 25 years as their print and mailroom manager. She then worked for Leath Furniture in Peoria for 8 years as their office manager, retiring in 2006.
Sue was a member of Richwoods Christian Church in Peoria, where she faithfully volunteered in the office, served with the First Impressions hospitality ministry. She also served in the children's ministry and had taught the Bear's Sunday school class at the church. She enjoyed leading small groups at both Richwoods and Grace Presbyterian Church.
Not only was her faith important to her, but Sue was also centered on family. She was devoted to her sons and passionate about caring for her grandkids.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13, 2018 at Richwoods Christian Church in Peoria. Pastor Jim Powell will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday evening at the church. Private inurnment will be in Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin. Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Richwoods Christian Church, 8115 North Knoxville Ave., Peoria, IL 61615 or to Grace Presbyterian Church, 8607 State Route 91, Peoria, IL 61615.
