Theo Heltzel Obituary

GLASFORD - Theo Sprague Heltzel, 85, of Glasford passed away peacefully into the arms of God on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, at the home of her sister in Glasford.

Born July 7, 1926, to Chester N. and Floy (Kingsley) Sprague, she married Ben J. Heltzel on Sept. 22, 1946, at Glasford Baptist Church. He preceded her in death on Aug. 27, 1981, in Glasford.

Theo worked in the accounting office at Hiram Walker & Sons for 37 years, retiring upon its closure in 1980.

She was a member of Glasford Baptist Church.

Theo loved to travel, watch and play golf and be with her large extended family.

She is survived by her dearly loved sister, Betty F. McCoy, her best friend, mentor and lifelong confidant.

Also surviving are three nephews, Kevin (Cindie) McCoy, Chris McCoy and Larry Dale (Ann) Doubet; and four nieces, Debbie (Harold) Roberts, Diane (Kurt) Butler, Kim (William) Harris and Kathryn (Ken) Karouzos.

In addition, she is survived by 24 great-nieces and nephews and 15 great-great-nieces and nephews who all love her and will miss her tremendously.

In addition to her parents and husband, Theo was preceded in death by her two brothers, Dale C. and Willard V. Sprague; her brother-in-law, William McCoy; and two sisters-in-law, Opal and Mae Sprague.

Theo's quick wit and laughter often enriched family gatherings and increased the joy they had. Her fun-loving demeanor, light-heartedness and feisty personality will be forever cherished and missed by her loved ones. There truly was only one Theo.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation. Private family graveside services will be held on Friday at Lancaster Cemetery, rural Glasford. The Rev. Paul Cook will officiate.
