Viola Graber Obituary

DELAVAN - Viola Mae Graber, 91, of rural Delavan passed away Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.

She was born March 4, 1922, in Hopedale to Ervin Thomas and Kathryn Vietta King Litwiller. She married Peter Henry Graber on April 9, 1944, in Hopedale and he passed away June 23, 1997.

Surviving are two sons, Richard Graber of Elkhart, Ind., and Mark (Lori) Graber of Delavan; two daughters, Susan (Arnie) Litwiller of Secor and Sandra (Lonnie) Sears of Paoli, Ind.; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Willis (Marilyn) Litwiller of Hopedale and Delton (Bernadine) Litwiller of Emden; three sisters-in-law, Janice Litwiller of Hopedale, Alta Graber of Eureka and Elsie Sutton of Birmingham, Ala.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son, David; an infant daughter, Janice; one brother, Walter Litwiller; and daughter-in-law, Doris Graber.

She was a member of Hopedale Mennonite Church for nearly 80 years, where she was a member of its Mennonite Women and taught Sunday school and Bible school for many years.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, her many plants and flowers, her pets and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, at Mennonite Cemetery in Hopedale, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Hopedale Mennonite Church in Hopedale. Pastor Kim Litwiller will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, also at the church.

Davis Mortuary in Delavan is handling the arrangements.
