ELMWOOD - Virginia Williams, age 86, of Gibson City, a relative of Elmwood and Farmington residents, died at 11:53 a.m. on Monday May 6, 2013, at her home in Gibson City.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 10, at Lamb Funeral Home with the Revs. Frank Fisher and Ed Taylor officiating. Burial will take place at Drummer Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Virginia was born on Oct. 9, 1926, in Garber, Ill., a daughter of Howard Levi and Edna Marie (Clark) Carter. She married Richard "Gene" Williams on July 30, 1950, in Galesburg. He passed away on Feb. 26, 1987.
She is survived by a son, Lance (Sylvia Sloan) Williams of Mesa Ariz.; a daughter, Sharla Williams of Gibson City; sister, Barbara Williams of Gibson City; brother-in-law, Don (Carolyn) Williams of Gibson City; and two sisters-in-law, Jean Williams of Gibson City and Marilyn Williams of Florida.
She was preceded in death by a nephew, Gary Williams, and two brothers-in-law, Larry and Bob Williams.
Virginia was a member of the First Presbyterian Church since 1940. She was a Title 1 teacher in Gibson City for 28 years. She loved reading and gardening, and enjoyed her time spent with family and friends.
Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, the Gibson City Library, or the Gibson Area Hospital.
