HANNA CITY - Walter L. "Skeet" Boyer, 94, of Hanna City, Ill., passed away at 4:35 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Ill.
He was born April 13, 1919, in Hanna City to Harry Anderson and Caroline (Sleeth) Boyer. Skeet married Mildred Baggs on June 1, 1940, in St. Louis, Mo. She preceded him in death on Feb. 5, 2006.
Surviving are his son, Gary (Pat) Boyer of Hanna City; son-in-law, Warren Satterlee of Early, Texas; six grandchildren, Missy (Dave) Ryba, Mark (Annette) Boyer, Marci (Mat) Fletcher, Meri (Matt) Havenar, Amy (Jeff) Vizenor and Brian (Stella) Satterlee; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, George Boyer of Canton and Robert (Vera) Boyer of Yates City; and one sister, Alice Hauser of Colorado.
Also preceding him in death were his parents; his daughter, Gail Ann Satterlee; three brothers; and four sisters.
Skeet was a lifelong farmer and plumber.
He was a member of Maple Lane Country Club in Elmwood and a former member of the Farmington Moose Lodge #1571.
He was an Army Air Corps veteran, serving from 1944 to 1946, during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Theater.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, July 29, at Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Farmington, where visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 28. The Rev. Jessica Baldyga will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be in Texas Union Cemetery in Trivoli.
Memorials may be made to the Logan-Trivoli Fire Protection District; St. Jude Canton to Peoria Run; or Farmington Academic Foundation.
