ROANOKE - Wilma W. Fischer, 90, of Roanoke passed away at 11:10 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at the Apostolic Christian Home of Roanoke.
She was born on June 8, 1923, in Fairbury, Ill., to Edward and Anna Peters Wenger. She married Frederick Fischer on July 11, 1948, in Fairbury. He passed away on Aug. 7, 1995.
Surviving are four sons, Melvin (Marty) Fischer of Roanoke, Wayne (Darlene) Fischer of Roanoke, Harvey (Kathy) Fischer of Benson and Larry (Pam) Fischer of Gridley; one daughter, Carolyn Fischer of Bloomington; one sister, Laura Wenger of Fairbury; eight grandchildren, Todd (Shirene) Fischer, Cheri Fischer, Justin (Ashley) Fischer, Laura Fischer, Emily Fischer, Jamie Fischer, Jordan (Hannah) Fischer and Nathan Fischer; and three great-grandchildren, Marlis, Zane and Kayle Fischer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter-in-law, Debbie Fischer; three brothers; and two sisters.
Wilma was a homemaker all her life and also had worked at the Apostolic Christian Home for many years in the housekeeping department and the kitchen. She had also worked for Rollie's Kountry Kitchen in Roanoke.
She loved to be outdoors working in her garden. She was especially known for her beautiful flowers and her flower gardens.
Wilma truly loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be missed by those that she touched.
Wilma was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Roanoke, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2013. Church ministers will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
