My thoughts and prayers are with Amy's family. It was such a privilidge and an honor to take care of Amy out at Illinois Cancer Care. I so enjoyed getting to know her and listening to the stories from the past. Rudy always brought her out to the office and the two of them had some great stories. She will be greatly missed here but I know she is with Jesus and I will see her agian.

I am from the Peoria area, and grew up playing sports in high school and college in the 1990s (at ICC). My mom took care of Amy in a nursing home several years ago, and mentioned how much I admired the women of the baseball league in A League of Their Own, and Amy was nice enough to give us one of her signed baseball cards from the Rockford Peaches! She is an inspiration to women athletes everywhere, and I won't forget her act of kindness towards my mom and me.

I have so many wonderful memories about Aunt Irene, and loved to spend time with her over the years. I can clearly remember playing catch with her in the yard at Grandma's, and her telling me all about her baseball days. Rudy, you truly have shown what it means to be family, and we thank you for being such an important part of Irene's life. My prayers are with you during this difficult time.

I will always remember her wonderful smile and sweet, soft spoken personality. She will always be a fond family member to all of us in Springfield. Aunt Nora she is an angle flying free and watching over you now! What a wonderful friend you had in her and she had in you!

Sorry we can't be there but Aunt Irene will always be in our hearts. Not a day goes by when I don't think of her, Grandma Applegren, Aunt Betty, Bob and my Dad and Mom. They are all inspirations in our lives. Rudy, Irene was lucky to have a friend as you have been. I know all the girls will miss Aunt Irene deeply.

Amy was a sweet, gentle, beautiful spirit. Sleeping at her & her mom's house on the south end after a Saturday night double header so I wouldn't have to go all the way back home before Sunday's games; helping Amy, her mom, & Rudy spring clean the kitchen; visiting at the house on the river; going out to eat in Spring Bay...all treasured memories that I will carry with me forever!
To Rudy, family & other friends, my thoughts and prayers are with you all. We will all miss Amy/Leftie!
