PEORIA - Raymond H. Heffron, 74, of Peoria passed away at 11:25 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2012, at his home in Peoria, surrounded by his family and friends.
He was born Feb. 23, 1938, in Peoria, Ill., to Raymond E. and Eunice J. (Rentz) Heffron. He married A. Faye Rowland on March 21, 1958, in Peoria. She preceded him in death on July 14, 2004. He then married Zona Fisher on Aug. 5, 2010, in East Peoria.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Roger Heffron; and one stepbrother.
Surviving are his wife, Zona of Peoria; three children, Randy Heffron of Creve Coeur, Rhonda Greer of Clinton, Ill., and Rae Heffron of Peoria; and three stepdaughters, Kendra Ewing and Rhonda (Joe) Walker, both of Peoria and Laura "Dawn" (Tom) Lane of East Peoria. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, one stepbrother, Steve Cheney of Iowa and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Raymond worked at Caterpillar Inc. for 30 years before retiring in 1998 and was a member of the Caterpillar Retirees Club and the UAW Local 974.
A visitation will be Tuesday, May 8, 2012, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. A funeral will be Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Pastor Jack Beard will officiate. Burial will follow the service in Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
