PEORIA - Mr. James W. "Jim" Meyer, 74, of Savannah Ga., formerly of Peoria, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Memorial Health University Medical Center.

Jim retired to Savannah in 2001 from Peoria, Illinois. He worked as a computer engineer with Caterpillar Inc. and was previously a professor at the University of Minnesota, Purdue University and Eureka College. Jim thoroughly enjoyed living in Savannah and especially loved his tennis club. He was a member of the USTA and was an alumni of Johns Hopkins.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Margaret Meyer; and son, Yvon Meyer.
Surviving are his loving wife, Ann Meyer; daughter, Julia Gray (Rodney); two stepsons, Ric Mele (Teresa) and Chris Mele (Pam); brother, Don Meyer; sister, Anne Bergere (Roger); five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two nieces; and two nephews.
The family would especially like to thank the team from Neuro Intensive Care at Memorial Hospital for their care and concern.
