Doris Dingledine Obituary

WASHINGTON - Doris J. Dingledine, age 90, of Washington, Ill., passed away at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, at Grand Victorian of Washington, where she was a resident.

She was born Sept. 4, 1923, in Eureka, Ill., to Donald D. and Agnes B. (Kirby) Dorward. She married Eugene W. Dingledine on Aug. 1, 1943, in Washington, Ill. He passed away in 2001.

Surviving are her children, Don (Diana) Dingledine of East Peoria, Ill., Linda Gabel of Fort Collins, Colo., Edward Dingledine of Durango, Colo., and Jon (Jerri) Dingledine of Holly Springs, N.C.; eight grandchildren, Christine (Jason) Winchester of LaGrange, Ill., Jason (Jen) Wurster of St. Joseph, Mich., Jeremy Ellwood of Peoria Heights, Ill., Amelia Gabel of Bozeman, Mont., Christopher Dingledine and Joseph Dingledine, both of Littleton, Colo., and Mason Dingledine and Bailey Dingledine, both of Holly Springs, N.C.; and eight great-granddaughters. She is also survived by a sister, Barbara (Ronald) Hammond of Bellevue, Wash.

One grandson, Nathan Gabel, and one brother, Donald Dorward, preceded her in death.

Doris was a member of Evangelical United Methodist Church, Washington, Ill., where she was a former Sunday School teacher.

She worked alongside her husband with their business, Del Construction, in Washington.

She was also past president of Washington Garden Club. She was an avid bridge player, loved to entertain and host dinners and bridge groups and was an excellent cook.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today, Feb. 1, 2014, at Mason White Funeral Home in Washington, with the Reverend Robert DeBolt officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. today until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Evangelical United Methodist Church.
