Billy Hatcher Obituary

CREVE COEUR - Billy Dwain "Bill" Hatcher, 77, of Creve Coeur passed away at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born June 14, 1936, in Mississippi County, Ark., to Homer and Mildred (Hickey) Hatcher, he married Melva DeLois Exendine on Jan. 31, 1954, in East Peoria.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years; one son, William Michael Hatcher of East Peoria; one daughter, Brenda I. Bent of Toulon; 13 grandchildren, including Christopher Hatcher, who he helped raise; six great-grandchildren, including Kiana Marie Hatcher, whom he helped raise; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Dennis (Scarlett) Hatcher of Phoenix, Ariz.; and three sisters, Betty (Tom) Grable of Phoenix, Carol Knoblaugh of Georgia and Colleen Kerker of Pekin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gary Hatcher; one granddaughter, Jessica Marie Getz; two brothers; and one sister.

Bill worked at C & H Printing in Peoria for 38 years, retiring in 1998 as a supervisor in the printing department.

He founded the Country Music Club of Peoria starting in 1964 at the Itoo Hall in Peoria. He loved music and often entertained with his wife.

He was also a member of the Hanna City Sportsman's Club for many years.

He was of the Christian faith.

Bill was a good husband, dad and grandpa and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

There will be no services, and cremation will be accorded. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with medical expenses.
