PEORIA - Marlene J. Ganson, 79, of Peoria passed away at 9:55 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at UnityPoint Health-Methodist.
She was born Nov. 10, 1934, in Creve Coeur, Ill., to August and Elna May (Holocker) Vogel.
Marlene is survived by two sons, Robert (Donna) Ganson of Washburn, Wis., and Brian (Tonya) Ganson of West Peoria; one daughter, Shelly (Eric) Martin of Washington; four grandchildren; and a stepmother, Dorothy (George) Evans of East Peoria.
She was a graduate of Pekin High School in 1952 and used to sing and play guitar at area nursing homes. She also baked cookies for her boys in Firehouse 13 in Peoria.
She was a member of Bradley Epworth Methodist Church and Cursillo.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at Wright & Salmon Mortuary, with Deacon John Skender officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home and 30 minutes before services on Friday. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery.
