BARTONVILLE - Truman Hughes Bowman, age 93, of Bartonville passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at UnityPoint Health-Proctor in Peoria.
Truman was born on Sept. 5, 1920, in Timewell, Ill., to Ralph E. and Alta (Hughes) Bowman. He married Marjorie Christner on Aug. 16, 1944, in Florida. She preceded him in death in 1993.
Truman is survived by his daughter, Terri (Vernon) Miller of Bartonville, Ill.; his stepgrandson, Samuel Thomas Miller of Forreston, Ill.; one brother, Larry (Joyce) Bowman of Rushville, Ill.; one sister, Pauline Parsano of Rushville, Ill.; and three sisters-in-law, Alberta Bowman of Peoria, Ill., Norma Rahn of Aurora, Ill., and Dorothy Zander of Quincy, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie; his parents; two brothers, John Bowman and Leonard Vernon Bowman; and one sister, Norma Foiles.
Truman served as an ambulance driver in the United States Army during World War II. He worked as a drapery installer for Lehnhausen and later owned and operated Rapp the Blind Man and Truman Bowman Drapery with his wife until he retired in 1993.
Truman enjoyed fishing and watching Bradley basketball, the Chicago Cubs and Lawrence Welk.
Services will be held today, Feb. 27, 2014, at 7 p.m. at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel, with visitation two hours prior to the service, beginning at 5 p.m. The Rev. Craig Hislope will be officiating. Burial will be at Mount Sterling City Cemetery on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at 1 p.m.
