HAVANA - Albert Lee Hinds, 84, of Havana passed away at 5:03 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014.
He was born Jan. 6, 1930, in Ipava, Ill., to Ross Vernon and Anna (Mayall) Hinds. He married Nancy Kruse on March 25, 1960.
Mr. Hinds is survived by his wife, Nancy of Havana; daughter, Linda (William) Floyd of Clearwater, Fla.; son, Randy (Rhonda) Hinds of Havana; two grandchildren, Stefanie (James) Warren and Derek Johnson; and one sister, Shirley (Virgil) Paul of Lewistown.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers and sisters; and one grandson, Rhett Johnson.
Mr. Hinds was a member of the Havana Central Christian Church, where he belonged to the Men's Christian Fellowship.
He was a certified IHSA umpire and umpired Little League Baseball for over 30 years. He also built the 10th Street Ball Diamond in Havana. He worked for International Harvester in Canton for 34 years, retiring at age 52.
Funeral services will be held at Central Christian Church at 2 p.m. Monday, March 3, 2014, with visitation one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow the services in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana. The Rev. Emily Williams will officiate.
