David Rhodes Obituary

BLOOMINGTON - David Loren Rhodes, 58, of Bloomington passed away Wednesday morning, March 12, 2014, at his home.

Memorial services will be at 12 noon on Monday, March 17, 2014, at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home in Bloomington, with the Pastor Scott Carnes of Normal United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Monday, March 17, before the services at the funeral home.

David was born Sept. 4, 1955, in Bloomington, to Carl Lee and MaryLou (Silver) Rhodes. He married Judy L. Moore on Feb. 29, 1992, in Bloomington.

David was a devoted husband and a wonderful, caring father and loved his grandchildren dearly. He would do anything he could for his family and friends. He loved St. Patrick's Day, as he would say, "By Gosh, By Golly." He was the best cook, especially his corned beef and cabbage. He taught his sons so much, as he could repair anything. David was a jack of all trades. He loved watching old Western movies for hours, fishing, camping and doing things with his family. He bought and sold antiques for years. He worked with his dad at Lee's Energy Equipment.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Rhodes of Bloomington; three sons, Thomas Loren (Jamie Powell) Rhodes of Bloomington, Michael Lee (Jessica Shoultz) Rhodes of Bloomington and Willis Moore of East Peoria; two grandchildren, Tylin McGuire and Briannah Loren Rhodes; and one brother, Roger (Sue) Rhodes of Portage, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be directed to the Shriners Hospital in Chicago.
