GALVA - John W. Hudson, 72, of Galva died at 12:17 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. today, March 17, at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Pastor Bob Curry will officiate. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery.
Memorials can be directed to the Galva Senior Citizen Center or the Henry County Humane Society.
John was born on May 15, 1941, in Watertown, Tenn., the son of Elmer and Virdie Hudson. He married Sandra L. "Sandy" Atteberry on Dec. 30, 1961, in Peoria. She preceded him in death on Oct. 29, 2007.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and a son, Terry Allen in infancy.
He is survived by two daughters, Tonya McClintic (Andrew Williams) of Galva and Kelly (William) Streitmatter of Farmington, Ill.; eight grandchildren, Melissa (Dustin) Dingledine, Timothy Heady Jr., Cortnie and Jacob McClintic and Brandon, Autumn, Hannah and Miranda Streitmatter; five great-grandchildren, Preston, Chandler, Isis, Lynnde and Drew; one sister, Irma Lee (Jim) Hrdlicka of Peoria; and his special friend, Evie Hier.
He had worked as a machinist for 30 years at Caterpillar in Mossville and Peoria and had retired in 1996.
He enjoyed fishing and reading. He also enjoyed puzzle making and then framing the puzzled works. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed following the University of Tennessee and the Detroit Lions. He was active in the Galva Senior Citizen Center, where he served on the board and was part of the bingo program. He was most fond of following his grandchildren in their sporting events.
