GENESEO - Jacob B. "Jake" Harper, 28, of East Moline, formerly of Geneseo, passed away Friday, March 14, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, from injuries received while working at a jobsite.
Funeral Services celebrating Jake's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at First United Methodist Church in Geneseo. The Rev. Bob Freeman will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Geneseo. Visitation for Jake will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 18 at Vandemore Funeral Home in Geneseo.
Memorials may be left to the Jacob Harper Memorial Education Fund for his daughter, Gracie.
Jake was born Oct. 9, 1985, in Geneseo, Ill., the son of Ken Miller and Melissa Harper. He attended Joy and Geneseo schools. Jake was a foreman-operator for Michels Pipeline Corporation of Wisconsin. Jake was a member of Union Local 150.
He enjoyed his R.C. cars, fishing and his tropical fish collection. Jake especially loved spending time with his daughter, Gracie.
Survivors include his parents, Ken (Colleen Boundy) Miller of Washington, Ill., and Melissa (Steve) Watkins of Geneseo, Ill.; fiancee, Jessica Ensey of East Moline; daughter, Gracie Harper at home; sisters, Emily Watkins, Brittany Miller and Kasey Miller; brothers, Stevie Watkins, Joel Watkins and Nick Watkins; grandparents, Lindell (Janet) Miller of Metamora, Ill., Brian (Betty) Harper of Geneseo and Marilyn Harper of Georgia; great-grandfather, Laurel Harper of East Moline, Ill.; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Jake was preceded in death by one brother, Kalin Watkins; and his great-grandparents.
