WASHINGTON - Roy A. "Tiny" Danz, 86, of Washington, Ill., passed away Monday, March 17, 2014, at UnityPoint Health-Methodist in Peoria.

He was born Aug. 19, 1927, in East Peoria, the son of John and Louise Syvilla (Miller) Danz. He married Doris Marie Hopple on Feb. 26, 1948, in Peoria.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years; one daughter, Susan Eileen Danz of Washington, Ill.; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one grandchild and seven brothers and four sisters, Anna Marie, Ida May, John Jr., Fred, Rose Catherine, Margaret Louise, Albert Walter, Edwin, Rudolf Carl, Arthur Warren and Emil Ernest.

Roy was a member of the Tazewell County Farm Bureau. He was a dairy farmer and transported his milk to Producers Dairy, just as his father did throughout his life. He was a dairy farmer for 50 years. He was also a laborer for Mid-State Landscaping and Wiegand and Storer. He continued farming and growing large amounts of vegetable gardens throughout his entire life, and had an open-air market at his home.

Services for Roy will be held at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Friday, March 21, 2014, from 5 to 8 p.m., and also one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Paul Aurand will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
