MORTON - Twila D. Lichti, 82, of Morton passed away at 11:35 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born May 25, 1931, in Stone Creek, Ohio, to Vernon and Laura (Buss) Hisrich. She and her husband, Robert W. "Bob" Lichti, met while in high school and married on Jan. 6, 1951, in Richmond, Ind. They both graduated from Ohio State University and spent a short time stationed in Japan with the United States Air Force. They settled in Illinois to raise their children while Bob worked for Caterpillar Inc.
Surviving are her husband of 63 years; one daughter, Cynthia (Mike) Amundson of Eagan, Minn.; two sons, Glenn (Diane) Lichti of Dubuque, Iowa, and Thomas (Jen) Lichti of Victor, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren, Robert and Alex Amundson, Matt, Josh and Bethany Lichti, Jacob, Henry, Carter, Manny and Monica Lichti; her siblings, Jake (Susan) Hisrich of Washington, Pa., Karen Corcoran of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Jim (Cindy) Hisrich of Camp Verde, Ariz.; her brother-in-law, Ed McGlumphy of Stone Creek, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Pat McGlumphy; and her brother-in-law, Bill Corcoran.
Twila was an active member of the Morton United Methodist Church and enjoyed her work with the Methodist Hospital Service League. She also was involved with several Bible study groups.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, cooking and especially, baking for the holidays. Twila was well known for her delicious cookies and raspberry jam. She loved giving dinner parties for friends and family, fishing, gardening and playing board games and cards, especially the Ohio card game, Jass. She also was a member of several bridge clubs.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2014, at Morton United Methodist Church, with Pastor Gary Motta and Pastor Paul Walles officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be at Hirstein Cemetery in Morton.
