PEORIA - Eugene Stenson II, 70, of Santa Clarita, Calif., formerly of Peoria, passed away and transitioned into eternity at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Olympia Hospital in Los Angeles, Calif., surrounded by his family and loving wife, Naomi.

Eugene was born on July 15, 1943, in Peoria, Ill., to Eugene and Geraldine Stenson.

At an early age, Eugene accepted Christ into his life at Zion Baptist Church in Peoria, Ill.

He attended Bradley University in Peoria, Ill., and Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Ill.

Eugene matriculated to California in 1967, where he met and married the love of his life, Naomi Pryor, in 1990.

In 1997, Eugene retired from Nissan Corp. as the first African-American supervisor of Parts Distribution from Overseas to Dealerships throughout the United States.

In 1999, he moved to Santa Clarita, Calif.

Prince Eugene's Ministry was to mentor young men to be all they could be and to impart in others the values of life.

Eugene, affectionately known to his family and friends as "Gene-O," had countless enjoyments in life. Those which stand out the most are tennis, jazz, history, cooking, all sports, along with fine arts and making floral arrangements.

His family and friends were dear to his heart, and Eugene enjoyed hosting numerous cookouts.

Eugene leaves to cherish his most precious memories his loving and devoted family: his wife, Naomi; two daughters, Felicia Yvonne Stenson of Concord, Calif., and Minci Sekou Stenson of Santa Clarita, Calif.; one son, Darin Christopher Pryor of Atlanta, Ga.; and one granddaughter, Imani Pryor. Also to cherish his memories he leaves two brothers, John (Arie) Stenson and Caesar Stenson; three sisters, Mary Frances Turner, Yvonne (Rudolph) Booth and Roberta Marshall, all of Peoria, Ill.; his mother-in-law, Carrie B. Farley of San Jose, Calif.; three sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends who loved him dearly.

Eugene was preceded in death by one brother, Clyde Douglas Norvell, and his parents, Eugene and Geraldine Stenson.

Cards of condolence can be sent to Mrs. Naomi Stenson, 26805 Sack Court, Santa Clarita, CA 91351.

Eugene's family has entrusted final arrangements to Eternal Valley Memorial Park, 23287 N. Sierra Hwy., New Hall, CA 91321.
