NORRIS - Robert L. Harr, 61, of Norris, formerly of Cuba, passed away at 4:19 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born July 3, 1952, in Canton, the son of Carol L. and Florence (Melvin) Harr.
Surviving are two children, Derek R. (Amy) Harr and Tawny L. (Craig) Wilson, both of Cuba; and four grandchildren, Dylan Harr, Kayleigh Harr, Cain Wilson and Tyne Wilson. Also surviving are seven sisters, Janet DeFord of Pinckneyville, Vicki (Les) Bowles of Cuba, Brenda Harr of DuQuoin, Suzanne (Kenneth) George of Tamaroa, Judy (Charles) Doolin of Coello, Cathy Craig of Jackson, Tenn., and Lori Bailey of Decatur; and a special companion, Joyce Leezer.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Bob worked at International Harvester until the Canton plant closure, when he started working at Alexander Lumber Company in Cuba. Later, he transferred to the company's Canton location, where he currently worked.
Bob enjoyed coaching Derek and Tawny's ball teams, working in his yard, playing with his grandkids, fishing, mushrooming and spending time with his family and friends.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba, with the Rev. Mike Arnett officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the memorial home. Burial will be in Cuba Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Putnam Township Park District for the summer T-ball, softball and baseball programs.
