WASHINGTON - Richard L. Hammer, 76, of Washington passed away at 6:20 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Washington Christian Village in Washington.
He was born June 28, 1937, in Peoria to Orville E. and Evelyn M. Jolly Hammer. He married Sandra L. Hasler on April 23, 1979, in Las Vegas. She survives.
Also surviving are two children, Richard L. (Geri) Hammer II of Germantown Hills and Debora K. Hammer of Peoria; and grandchildren, Robyn L. Hammer of Spring Bay and Grant M. Hammer of Germantown Hills.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Kenneth Hammer and Edgar Hammer.
Richard retired from Caterpillar Tractor Co. after 30 years. He later worked part time at Illinois Central College in security.
Richard was a member at First Baptist Church in Washington, and was a Mason for many years.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at First Baptist Church in Washington. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Pastor Joshua Monda will officiate.
