PEORIA - Bobbie Jean Barnett, 68, of Peoria passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014, at UnityPoint Health-Methodist in Peoria, Ill.
She was born March 23, 1946, in Lyon, Miss., to Sally Jane and Zack Erving. She attended school until 12th grade. Bobbie married but later divorced, leaving her with five beautiful children whom she loved and adored. One of Bobbie's most treasured pastimes was solving puzzles and playing solitaire.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories three sons, Robert (Brenda) Stringer, Manuel (Catherine) Stringer and David (Carla) Stringer, all of Peoria, Ill.; two daughters, Barbara (David) Spiller of DuQuoin, Ill., and Debra Stringer of Peoria Ill.; one brother, Sammie Lee Erving of Peoria; and two sisters, Mattie Citchen of Peoria and Canary Williams of Clarksdale, Miss. She also leaves behind 30 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Bobbie was preceded in death by both parents; three brothers, Onnie Lee Erving, Robert Lee Erving and Johnny Lee Erving; and four sisters, Ruby Lee Wright, Della Vean Pollard, Leatry Sanders and Mary Stubbs.
A homegoing celebration for Bobbie Jean will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Grace Baptist Church, 405 N. Richard Pryor Place, Peoria, Ill., with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. Services will be officiated by Pastor Pat Pollard, with the Host Rev. Gatlin. Interment will be in Lutheran Cemetery.
Arrangements were made especially for Bobbie's family and professionally directed by T.W. Parks Colonial Chapel.
