MORTON - Richard Washburn, 78, of Morton died at 8:03 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, 2014, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born on Dec. 19, 1935, in Peoria to William J. and Nadine Cottrell Washburn. He married Marilyn Fisher on Dec. 2, 1970, in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are his daughter, Michele Litwin of East Lyme, Conn.; two grandchildren, Corey and Cameron Litwin; one sister, Nancee (Bill) Jacobs of Bartonville; and two brothers, Tilton L. Washburn of East Peoria and Richard's twin brother, Roger (Marcia) Washburn of Peoria.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, William Washburn.
Richard served his country for 20 years in the United States Navy. He served during the Vietnam War. He later worked as a purchaser for the United States Postal Service for 25 years, retiring in 1990.
He attended Maxwell Road Church of God.
Richard loved fishing and golfing and was an excellent oil painter.
There will be a funeral for Richard at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Pastor Ted Deal will officiate. Interment will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
