EAST PEORIA - Rachel Louise Bachman, 89, of East Peoria, Ill., died at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at Apostolic Christian Home in Roanoke, Ill.
Born on July 12, 1924, in Cass County, Ill., to John and Zonie Moore DeGroot Jr., she married James W. Miller II on July 29, 1945, in Cass County, Ill. He preceded her in death on Feb. 9, 1972. She then married Leonard "Blackie" Bachman on Aug. 31, 1973, at the Sunnyland Christian Church. He survives.
Also surviving are three children, James (Sandy) Miller of Spring Bay, Ill., Joyce (Larry) Gilles of Hilton Head Island, S.C., and Donna (Tim) Wilcoxen of Benson, Ill.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters and two additional infant siblings.
Louise was a member of Sunnyland Christian Church in Washington, enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Hillcrest Ladies Golf League in Washington for many years, where she won various tournaments. She also enjoyed spending time with Blackie on their deck, watching the squirrels and hummingbirds. Her grandchildren were her life and she was dearly loved by all her family.
Services for Louise will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 18, 2014, at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Pastor Evan Williams will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2014, at the funeral home, with additional visitation from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
