PEORIA - Mary Jane Moore, 96, of Peoria passed away at 1:40 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at the Hawthorne Manor Court.
Mary Jane was born May 12, 1917, in Hillsboro, N.D., the daughter of John Ernest and Goldie May (Parker) Ely. She married Vallie Leo Moore on Aug. 3, 1938, at the St. Louis Cathedral in St. Louis, Mo. He preceded her in death Oct. 19, 1997.
She is survived by her children, Michael (Susan) Moore of Peoria and Vicki (Allan) Waldschmidt of Henry, Ill.; her grandchildren, Michael (Nicci) Waldschmidt, Thomas (Toni) Waldschmidt, Patricia Waldschmidt, Sean (Lauren) Moore and Christopher (Erin) Moore; and six great-grandchildren.
Mary Jane graduated from the Ursuline Academy in Springfield, Ill., in 1936. She worked at Hiram Walker's and at Catherine's Dress Shop. She also worked as a real estate sales person.
She was a Pink Lady at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center and was a member of St. Philomena Catholic Church, the Catholic Women's League and Peoria Grandmother's Club, where she was a former president.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at St. Philomena Catholic Church. Father David Richardson will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2014, at Wright & Salmon Mortuary, with recitation of the rosary at 6:45 p.m. An additional visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum.
