She is survived by three children, Eldonna (Harold) Sommer of East Peoria, Peggy Jo Kolesar Emerson of Mesa, Ariz., and Andrew (Tina) Kolesar of East Peoria. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Aaron (Christine) Sutter of San Francisco, Calif., Asher (Alania) Emerson of Chandler, Ariz., Zebulun (Evelyn) Emerson of Gilbert, Ariz., and of course Nigel Ray, Andy's dog, who always brought a smile to her face in her last days. There are nine great-grandchildren, Tyler, Nichlas and Adam Sommer, Isaac Bloom and Ruby Sue, Isabella, Sophia, Gabriella and Indie Emerson; three great-great-grandchildren; and she was the "favorite" aunt to many nieces and nephews.

She graduated from Astoria High, class of 1939, and Liberty Beauty College in 1949. She got her real estate license and sold real estate for 21st Century for a short time. She also was a tax preparer for H&R Block. She moved to Morton and started her career as a hair stylist at Campus Beauty Shop. Later, she owned and operated Jackie's Beauty Shop, later named House of Style.

In her lifetime, she and Ray caught many a fish and camped many times. She enjoyed going out to eat, playing on her computer late at night and watching golf on TV.

Jackie enjoyed life to its fullest until old age caught up with her two months ago. She is truly leaving an empty spot in many people's lives.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Rosewood for all the special care they gave to mom.

Cremation has been accorded and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Humane Society of Peoria in her name.

The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. Pekin/Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements.
