SOUTH PEKIN - Mary Ellen Parker, 90, of South Pekin passed away at 8:45 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2014, at her home.
She was born June 21, 1923, in South Pekin to Ted Albert and Caroline (Moses) Parker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Teddina J. Carlyle and Wilma Kliest; and an infant brother.
Surviving are two cousins, Jessie (Carl) Strope Petri of Homosassa, Fla., and Ella Strope Heintz of Leesburg, Fla.
Mary Ellen worked for American Distilling Company in Pekin for more than 44 years, last working in the personnel department. She also worked at a grocery store in South Pekin as a young lady.
She enjoyed flower gardening and was fond of animals and birds.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Gary L. Ford of Grace United Methodist Church will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
