MORTON - Harriet L. "Sissy" McCawley, 88, of Morton, Ill., died at 11:22 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Morton Terrace in Morton.
She was born Feb. 24, 1926, in Peoria to Aura and Cora (Laycock) McCawley.
Sissy worked at Bemis Bag Company and, in later years, Kirlin's Hallmark at Northwoods Mall.
She also had a talent for candy-making. For many years, Sissy carried on her mother's tradition of sharing homemade fudge and divinity with loved ones at Christmas.
Sissy is survived by her nieces and nephews, Nancy Davis, Glenda McCawley, Lloyd Tull, Mark Tull, Kevin Tull, Tamara Semelroth, Becky Doubleday and Kate Nelson. Also surviving are brother-in-law, Jack Tull; and sister-in-law, Mary McCawley.
Sissy was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Lloyd, Gene and Glen; two sisters, Norma and Helen; and one nephew, Mike.
The family would like to thank the staff of Morton Terrace, especially Cathy B., for their years of loving care and dedication to Sissy.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Springdale Cemetery in Peoria.
