MORTON - Mary A. Samp, 92, of Morton died at 10:42 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014, at UnityPoint Health-Methodist in Peoria.
She was born Nov. 18, 1921, in Cerro Gordo, Ill., to Michael and Helen (Grason) Crowe. She married William Samp on Feb. 28, 1941, in Cerro Gordo, Ill. He preceded her in death on May 15, 1992.
She also was preceded in death by one grandson, Lance Neece; three brothers; and one sister.
Surviving are one daughter, Jean (Jim) Destefano of Morton; one son, Michael (Lori) Samp of Divide, Colo.; four grandchildren, Scott (Amy) Neece and Jodi (Justin) Thies, both of Lincoln, Ill., and Sean (Melissa) Samp and Kevin Samp, both of Peoria; seven great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Mary was a member of Morton United Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star, Morton Chapter. She was also a former member of the Pekin Country Club.
Mary enjoyed golf and crossword puzzles.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral and Cremation Center in Morton, with the Rev. Gary Motta officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, at the funeral home, followed by an Eastern Star Service at 7 p.m. Further visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Cerro Gordo Township Cemetery in Cerro Gordo, Ill.
