MORTON - Elizabeth P. "Betty" Bridwell, 83, of Morton died at 7:45 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2014, at her home.
She was born May 7, 1930, in Yates City, Ill., to Mertle and Clara Bell (Murphy) Rogers. She was married to Clarence Gouchenouer for 27 years and later married John Bridwell on July 24, 1982, in Morton. He preceded her in death on Dec. 13, 2000.
She also was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are three daughters, Margo (David) Koeppel of East Peoria, Debbie (Russ) Adams of Monticello, Ill., and Janet Yuhas of Morton; two stepsons, Jerald Bridwell of Deerfield, Mass., and Donald Bridwell of Calif.; six grandchildren, Mark Hilton, Denise Ogle, Jennifer Brading, Stefanie Frazelle, Kristy Mauerman and Katelynn Yuhas; and one sister, Kathryn Anderson of Wapella, Ill.
Retiring in 1982, Elizabeth had worked as a licensed practical nurse at Proctor Hospital in Peoria for 15 years. She was a member of Morton VFW Auxillary.
Elizabeth attended First Presbyterian Church of Morton. She was an avid bowler and bowled in local leagues and area tournaments.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, with Pastor Penny Frame officiating. Visitation will be an hour before services at the funeral home. Following services, cremation will be accorded. Burial of cremated remains will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Peoria at a later date.
