WASHINGTON - Daniel Leon "Danny" Prater, 55, of Washington, Ill., died at 9:05 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Born on Oct. 8, 1958, in Peoria, Ill., to Howell Leon and Georgia Rettielou Bowman Prater, he married Lori Lynne Black on Sept. 4, 1979, in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are his daughter, Tanya Prater, and his son, Justin Prater, both of Washington, Ill.; and six siblings, Don (Rosi) Prater of St. Louis, Mo., Mickey "Bud" (Fern) Prater of Chillicothe, Ill., Dana (Tina) Prater of Tennessee, Deloris (Mack) Chavez of Texas and Peggy (Joe) Walters and Jenny (Bob) Horn, both of Tennessee.
Danny worked at Parsons Company in Roanoke for the past 28 years, last working as a CNC operator in July of 2013.
He loved riding his motorcycle.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2014, at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2014, at the funeral home, with additional visitation from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service, and inurnment will be at a later date at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
Memorials may be made to Northern Tazewell Fire Department, Northern Tazewell Recreation Association or TAPS.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the OSF Nursing Staff, OSF Home Health and OSF Hospice for their wonderful care of Danny.
