WASHINGTON - M. Irene McDaniel, 96, of Washington, Ill., died at 1:01 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at her home.
Born on July 19, 1917, in LaHarpe, Ill., to Harry H. and Clara Corbitt Louden, she married James I. McDaniel on June 8, 1940, in LaHarpe.
Surviving are her husband of nearly 74 years, Jim; two daughters, Jean (David) Kiesewetter of Rockton, Ill., and Kathleen "Kathy" (Bill) VanMieghem of Morton, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, John Louden and Franklin Louden.
Irene was a member of PEO Chapter HG for 60 years and was a 54-year member of Crossroads United Methodist Church in Washington.
She enjoyed playing bridge, was an avid golfer and played in the ladies golf league at Kaufman Park in Eureka for many years and was an avid Cubs fan.
Services for Irene will be at noon today, May 23, 2014, at Crossroads United Methodist Church in Washington. Pastor Tom Goodell will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Cremation rites have been accorded, and inurnment will follow the service in Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Crossroads United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
