FARMINGTON - Kerman R. Isbell, 88, of Farmington, Ill., passed away at 4:25 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at Heritage Manor in Chillicothe, Ill.
He was born April 25, 1926, in Hanna City, Ill., to Earl and Alice (Swadinsky) Isbell. Kerman married Emma Jane Kimzey on July 29, 1946, in Bartonville, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 20, 2003.
Surviving are his son, Dennis (Debbie) Isbell of Peoria; six grandchildren, Tara, Janell, Eydie, Matthew, Michael and Mark; nine great-grandchildren; and brother, Roger (Rose) Isbell of Oquawka.
Kerman also was preceded in death by his son, Merlin R. Isbell; and two brothers, Merlin E. and Herman Isbell.
He was a welding instructor at Caterpillar Inc., retiring in 1986 with 42 years of service.
Kerman was a member of the Hanna City United Methodist Church and was instrumental in the building of its new church. He also was a member of Lancaster Masonic Lodge 106 in Glasford and the Peoria Consistory.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
Kerman was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II and the Korean War.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today, May 23, 2014, at the Hanna City United Methodist Church, where visitation will be one hour prior. Pastor Bob DeBolt will be officiating. Burial will be in Smithville Cemetery in rural Hanna City.
