EAST PEORIA - James Albert Seppelt, 95, of East Peoria died at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014, in Burnsville, Minn.
He was born Oct. 21, 1918, in Lehigh, Okla., to Paul Carl and Mae Ellen (Dyer) Seppelt. He married Joyce Taylor on Aug. 10, 1940, in St. Louis, Mo. She survives.
James is also survived by his daughter, Judy (David) Miller of Rosemont, Minn.; son, Jack (Kay) Seppelt of Clinton, Iowa; granddaughter, Amy (Daniel) Maldonado of Rosemont, Minn.; grandson, Matthew (Tera) Miller of Hudson, Wis.; granddaughter, Susan (Marc) Hoskins of Bettendorf, Iowa; granddaughter, Samantha (Ryan) Bemrich of Iowa City, Iowa; sister, Ann Bagley of Port Richey, Fla.; brother, Clark (Barbara) Seppelt of Peoria; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his three brothers and two sisters.
James was a United States Navy veteran of World War II.
He worked as a supervisor with Illinois Bell for 43 years.
James was a member of First United Methodist Church in Peoria, East Peoria Lion's Club and Illinois Bell Pioneers and was a Robein School Board member.
He also coached Little League in East Peoria. He was an avid golfer and bowler and involved in many Peoria-area leagues.
A graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. today at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. The Rev. Howard Love will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. today at The Wilton Mortuary in Peoria.
