BELLEVUE - William J. "Bill" Kellington, 83, of Bellevue passed away at 2:18 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Heddington Oaks Nursing Home in Peoria.

Bill was born March 6, 1931, in Dunlap to William and Mildred (Devore) Kellington. He married Edith M. Roskowetz on Sept. 16, 1952, in Beerfelden, Germany.

She survives, along with three sons, Henry (Carol) Kellington of Mapleton, Stephen (Aniko) Kellington of Washington, Ill., and Donald (Sandy) Kellington of Peoria; and nine grandchildren, Troy, Jeff, Andy, Steve, Brittany, Donnie, Krissi, Jessica and Bill. He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five sisters.

Bill was a United States Army veteran and retired from the Air National Guard.

He was a licensed plumber, first working for Larson's Hardware in Rome for 23 years and then later for Kellington & Son Plumbing/Heating and AC for 18 years until his retirement in 2010.

He was a lifetime member of the Bartonville American Legion Post 979.

Bill was a mentor and a teacher to his sons as well as his grandkids. He passed along skills in woodworking, plumbing and sheet metal. He also encouraged his immediate family to serve their country in the military. In all his travels he never made an enemy, but always made friends.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today at the Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens, with military honors by the Bartonville American Legion Honor Guard.

Memorials may be made to the Bartonville American Legion Honor Guard.
