FAIRVIEW - Jerry D. Dunblazier, 75, of Fairview died at 10:33 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born in Canton on April 30, 1939, to Clyde W. and Margaret V. (Schafer) Dunblazier. He married Sally A. Armstrong in London Mills on June 26, 1960. She survives.
Other survivors include his daughter, Tanya (Danny) Thomas of Maquon; three grandchildren, Sean Thomas, Ryne Thomas and Mark Thomas; two stepgrandchildren, Steve (Michelle) Thomas and David Thomas; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and one brother, Keith W. (Pam) Dunblazier of Southport, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Bret Dunblazier.
Jerry retired from the Navistar Indianapolis plant in 1992 after 30 years. He also was the caretaker of Fairview Township cemeteries for 14 years.
He was a member of the Fairview Reformed Church and was a past board member of the Valley Park District.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam era; was a member and past commander of the Roy Miller American Legion Post 644 in Fairview; and served on the Abbadusky Trust board.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, where visitation will be held one hour prior. Burial with military honors will be in Fairview Cemetery.
