PEORIA - Cleo Dailey Sr., 85, of Peoria passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2014, at his home.
Cleo was born on April 20, 1929, in Wynne, Ark., to Tad and Willie B. (Mosley) Dailey. He married Emma L. Davis on Dec. 25, 1954, in Peoria. She preceded him in death in 2012.
Cleo was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, three brothers and one grandson.
Cleo is survived by his children, Edward Bell, Rev. Cleo Dailey Jr., Michael R. (Brenda) Dailey, Deborah J. (Curtis) Easley, Sharon Humbles of Fishers, Ind., Tammy (Tommy) Harris, Curtis Dailey, Calvin (Gina) Dailey, Marla (Glenn) Randle of Indianapolis, Ind., Shirril Lawson and Sherry Dailey; four siblings, Charlene Williams, Johnny Dailey, Doris Jones and Preston Lee (Ruthie) Hamer; 29 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives.
Cleo served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. He worked at Armour Packing for 20 years, later working for Caterpillar Inc., and retiring after 30 years in 1992.
Cleo had many hobbies. He loved hunting, fishing and tending his garden every year. He was also a barber for the neighborhood.
Cleo was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He truly will be missed.
Home-going services will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2014, at New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Peoria, with visitation beginning at 9 a.m., and funeral services at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria, with military honors.
