PEORIA - Willie Carter, 77, of Peoria passed away and departed his earthly life at 5:10 a.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2014, at Sharon Health Care Willows.

He was born on Jan. 22, 1937, in Benton, Miss., to the late George and Mary Bell Carter Sr.

Willie love to spend time with his family and friends. He enjoyed gospel music. He was a very comical person who loved to tell jokes. He also loved to watch wrestling.

He leaves to cherish his memories, one brother, Alton Carter of Cocoa, Fla.; and one sister, Nellie Marie (Robert) Harris of Tunica, Miss. Willie also leaves behind special family members that include five nephews, Carl, George "Junior C" (Rachel), Marvin, Eziekel (Naomi) and Kevin Carter; six nieces, Jean (Isiah) Jackson, Geraldine Moore, Joyce Melvin, Maryann Ann Carter and Patricia (Lee) Howard, all of Peoria, and Gala (Neil) Post of San Antonio, Texas; and one beloved sister-in-law, Claudia Hampton of Peoria; along with a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends whom adored him and will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, five brothers and one niece, Tina.

Services will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2014, at 11 a.m., with visitation commencing one hour prior at 10 a.m., at T.W. Parks Colonial Chapel, 201 N. Mac Arthur Highway. Pastor McConnell will officiate. Interment will be private.

Arrangements were made especially for Willie's family and professionally directed by T.W. Parks Colonial Chapel.
