INDUSTRY - Barbara F. Hammond Sayers, 81, of Industry passed away at 5:20 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2014, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.
She was born on Nov. 22, 1932, in Adair to Leonard C. and Myrtle Marie Wilson Hammond. She married Max Sayers on Sept. 10, 1950, in Adair. He survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Cathy (John) McMillan of Macomb; two sons, Mike Sayers of Industry and Brad (Laura) Sayers of Springfied; three grandchildren, Ashley (Ames) Conant of Milford, Conn., Tyler (Jessica) Sayers of Mount Zion and Travis Sayers of Mount Zion; two stepgranddaughters, Stephanie Ferris and Cathryn Ferris, both of St. Louis; two great-grandchildren, Wesley Conant and Alexis Sayers; and one brother, Leonard Vern Hammond of Macomb.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Barbara had lived in the Industry area since 1955. She was a member of the West Prairie Presbyterian Church and attended the Industry United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Women's Club.
She and Max loved the outdoors, loved to go hiking at Glacier Park and really loved her dogs and cats. She also had a lifelong commitment to doing community service.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2014, at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb, with the Reverend Gary Kruzan officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pennington Point Cemetery, west of Adair.
