PEORIA - Frances Althea Schlink, 92, of Springfield, Mo., formerly of Peoria, passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2014, at her residence, surrounded by family.
She was born in Peoria, Ill., on May 23, 1922, to Justin Fleet Wright and Margaret Ellen Roche. She was married to Melvin Joseph Schlink on Sept. 17, 1949, in Peoria, and they lived in Peoria, Pittsfield and Normal, Ill., before moving to Springfield in 1960. He preceded her in death on Dec. 6, 1995.
She is survived by four sons, Rodger A. (Carla) of Ashland, Mo., David L. (Nancy) of Springfield, Mo., Gerald T. of Lamar, Mo., and Joseph M. (Renee) of Branson, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Andrew J. Schlink, Amanda S. Schlink, Mark J. Schlink, Daniel L. Schlink, Josephine F. Schlink, Sarah N. Schlink, Joshua M. Schlink and Jeremy M. Schlink; and six great-grandchildren, David, Margo, Claudia, Olivia, Isabella and Sofia.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph Eldridge, Robert Anthony and Charles William; and sisters, Genevieve Lois, Marie Annette, Ruth Ellen and Margaret Elizabeth.
She enjoyed traveling and visiting with friends and family and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Monday, July 7, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home in Springfield, Mo. Funeral Mass will be today, July 8, at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Springfield, Mo. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Springfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Eagle Scout Association (N.E.S.A.).
