Lindon Lacefield Obituary

CHILLICOTHE - Lindon O. Lacefield, 89, of Chillicothe passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at Heritage Health in Chillicothe, Ill.

He was born Nov. 4, 1924, in McHenry, Ky., the son of Valley and Ivey (Embrey) Lacefield.

Surviving are his daughter, Deborah (Lee Boege) Lacefield; two grandsons, Derek and Douglas; his companion for more than 30 years, Ernestine LeMaster and children, David (Barb) LeMaster of Naperville, Jerry (Mary) LeMaster of Hartford, Mich., and Tom (Lori) LeMaster of Rockford; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings, Leonard Lacefield, Fostine Duncan, Maxine Duncan, Dorene Austin, Joyce White and Peggy Midkoff.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings.

Lindon was a World War II Marine veteran. He served in the Battle of Iwo Jima and witnessed the raising of the United States Flag on Mount Suribachi.

He was a retired salesman from Granger Motors in Granger, Iowa.

Cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 13, 2014, at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe, with visitation two hours prior. The Rev. Raymond Harrison will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Chillicothe City Cemetery with military rites conducted.
